Week 3

This week all the songs I have chosen are sung by Sonu Nigam. The melody in his voice is unmatchable. I was really taken by surprise when I saw him doing mimicry of different singers, he was just awesome.

This song has been sung by both Sonu Nigam as well as Rajesh Krishnan. Though during early days of this movie release I always liked the Rajesh Krishnan version just because of the pronunciation yet I always felt Rajesh Krishnan could never meet the melody touch which Sonu Nigam gave to this song.

Movie: - Bunty Aur Babli
Language: - Hindi

Me, Myself and My Friends.

Well this topic if I keep on writing is never ending, and that’s not because of me and myself but because of my friends. It would hardly take two sentences to describe me and myself. But then that’s a secret and I am not going to reveal it. Let me tell something about my friends.

Right from my school days I have seen that I have had this tendency of changing my friends group. It used to be never intentional but after summer vacations when I used to go back to school I used to always have new set of friends. It was not that the older ones left school or something but just that I had a feeling that if I go along with someone new I would get to taste different varieties of lunch during lunch break. So, in short my friends at school were limited to just that 1 hr lunch break.

Then I had friends in my neighbourhood. Well this was something amazing. We were around 10 to 15 people of the same age group. And then there were people who were already in college. I had this habit which generally my Mom said was a bad one that I used to get along well with this group of people who were senior to me than with the people of my age group which I realized only when I was in the final year of my engineering :-). Thus, during my pre-high school days I had a lot of enjoyment. I played almost all sorts of games which may seem bit awkward to the dudes of Urban. I used to play right from bugari(Top) to football, gilli-danda to cricket, goli to badminton to name a few. As I entered my high school I changed this group of friends as well. I started to realize that friendship was not just playing out some games with them. This was a great turning point in my life. I joined a new school. Now I had a great difficulty here. I had to make a whole new set of friends and I always felt that the students in this new school had a lot of attitude. But soon I managed to make friends which started with some of the senior school boys as usual. Then I entered Pre-University which was the first time I had a defined small group of friends. We were just 5 of us. And these are the first set of friends with whom I am still in contact.

Whatever I mentioned above was a small gist of my childhood days. The real story began when I stepped into this Professional Course of Engineering, SJCE Mysore. The day I joined my hostel(VVN) I came to realize one thing that I can’t survive the way I had survived all these days. To add to my worries, on the first day of my hostel I could see only people from big places like Bangalore and Mangalore around me. And to be honest they showed a lot of attitude. I was relieved only when Mr. Rajat (no’h’ please) who is basically from Shantiniketan and actually from Bangalore did come and introduced himself in a humble way. To add to my relief he did converse in Kannada may be he came to know the quality of my English by just looking at my face:-). Even in the class I had not built up any sort of rapport with anyone. To my rescue I got a friend from Haveri, whose frequency did match with that of mine. We both used to watch a lot of movies, play a lot of cards and drink lots of tea. As time progressed the guys who I always thought had a lot of attitude did get close to me and strangely remain to be same even today:-) This was my first year of engineering.

Coming to my second year, I shifted to the hostel which was within the college campus. Now, again I remembered my school days where I used to have new friends after every summer vacation. This was similar case. And the floor in which I got a room was occupied completely by seniors but for the one which was allocated to me and my room mates. Now this was the period when I got along with a group(of seniors) called Shengas. This was the group with whom I spent most of my college days. It was a very diverse group and with no goal :-). It had a beau in the form of Aditya, a noetic person in the form of Bhatta and Kav, a sense of humour in the form of Enkta and Ammu(Not to forget Mirji) and majesty in the form of Sam and last but not the least the movie-masala in the form of Suppi, Chamko and Kulli. Overall it was a great group to be with and enjoy. When I was with this group I became friends with many of their seniors and batch mates like Gubbi, Kaddi, Tejas, Toto, Mama, Sandy to name a few. During this period I came across many people and in the due course many of them did become my friends. And there was summer vacation again.

I was in the final year and had to hunt for new set of friends. During this period many of my batch mates who were under the impression that I belonged to senior batch came to know that I belonged to their own batch. It was during this time I increased the count of my friends. This was again a great period which changed my life style. Then I came to Bangalore and have maintained almost the same set of friends which include the ones from my Pre-university, Shengas and the ones I made in my final year of engineering. When I see the big picture things really haven’t changed much. Its only the perceptions that have changed.

So, now let me tell something about me and myself. Explaining me is very easy. In one sentence it is just the mixture of the qualities of all those friends of mine. Explaining myself is still easier. It is just the mixture of their perceptions about me. So, thats all I can explain about me and myself. So, whenever I want to evaluate myself I just try to know the perceptions of my friends about me. Last time when I had done this I realized that it was the time for summer vacation. But then I realized that its all about me and not about myself :-).

Artha aaglilva aagodu beDa biDi !!! ;)

It was 29th January, Sunday. All of us had decided that we are going to watch the movie though i was not much interested especially for the reason that i had to get up early in the morning(atleast from my point of view) that too on a Sunday, sounds so disgusting !!! The thing which was more irritating was that i had to go to office after watching the movie. So, Now i dont want to elaborate this more because i am not writing this to convey in what state of mind i had watched the movie. Also dont be under the impression that you will find a review(like the ones given by Khaled Mahmud) because i know by this time most of you would have watched the movie.

PS: All the characters i speak about are fictious but any reference to person dead or alive is not co-incidental.

Lets begin with it.The movie started with this most impressive quote :-

Ab bhi jiska khoon na khola woh khoon nahi paani hai!
Jo desh ke kaam na aaye woh bekaar jawani hai !!

This was more than enough for anyone to be geared up no matter what state of mind he was and i wasn't an exception either.Though i was very much frustrated after watching the hyped movie "Mangal Pandey" i was sure this would not have the same impact and i was right. The film started with a young lady impressed by her grandfather's diary coming to INDIA to shoot a documentary on the freedom fighters especially Bhagat Singh & his co.

The way the story goes is simply outstanding. It revolves around a bunch of young guys still in College each with his own set of dreams. How they change from being carefree students to responsible citizens really makes everyone think in these terms.Coming to the characters (Sukhi,DJ,Pandey,Ajay,Karan,Aslam,Su) everyone is outstanding no matter who it is !!! But i liked Karan(Siddharth) very much because though the character always seemed to be so serious yet was involved so much with everyone else around. Then ofcourse we had our DilJeet(DJ) i.e. none other than Amir Khan.No match for his acting , be its a comedy scene or the climax.

The first part of the film was very fungoing kind with all the actions just reminding me of my college days, though even today i haven't changed much except for the scarcity of time which i am facing. The film also had some romance in it especially with Madhavan & Soha going around. What a break this female has got ??? (I really envied Madhavan;wished i had one!!!) .Okay, coming to the second part though not at the same pace as the first part; but was really more effective.Especially the climax, with all the guts these guys accept the truth and the way they leave behind them a bunch of questions need to be answered by us (that too not objective) may have left everyone in the theatre dumbfounded ofcourse i was.

The film basically maps the pre-independence situation to the present situation with no kind of flaws as such. So, I think most of us would have been really influenced by it and why not after all it was intended for us.

Now coming to the music, no comments A.R. Rehman has done it again. The direction & the script has also been superb. But the dialogues are the ones which actually take away most of the credit. To be more specific this is the dialogue that was more impressive :-

" Zindagi Jeene ke do tariekein hote hai;Ek jo horaha hai use hone do,
Aur doosra zimmedariyaan uthaon use badalne ki "

To Conclude the movie was really impressive and i had forgot all the complains i had before!!!These are just my feelings...

Any Comments ; Appreciated !!!
